In Search of Wisdom

The irony is that no human can enslave the true slave of Allah.

Armed and ready  I leave the house  For rain and storm  Feeling secure  Walking confidently  Worrying about  Leaving it behind  Forgetting it somewhere  Like its previous mates So I grab my umbrella  Before I leave  Walk out  Towards the train station  Then the moment of truth  I open my umbrella  Confidently go out  Into the rain and potential storm  A gust of wind - suddenly  Totally destroys it in seconds  I helplessly cling on Desperately try to repair the damage  It’s hopeless  I walk a few metres with it It’s drizzling and cold I lower the umbrella  And drop it by the roadside  I feel strange as I litter This former protector of mine It gave its life But now I must brave  The freezing wind and rain 

He is our link with the Divine.

Allah’s justice is far better than your revenge.

The effects of sins are indeed greater than we acknowledge and more lasting than we realise.

Praising Allah will assist and guide you through the dark valleys and those frightening moments of self-doubt and loneliness.

When systems breakdown it affects people in different ways, it causes anxiety and psychological trauma that can last generations. Some will hold on to the broken system, some will try to restart the system, while others will leave the system for another system which they believe is working or works better. The best of them will reinvent the system to cater for the present needs and focus on the future challenges that the system will have to face.

Prophet Muhammad  Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam  said, “ The wise saying is the lost property of the believer, so wherever he finds it then he has a right to it .” (Jami at-Tirmidhi #2687; Sunan Ibn Majah #4169) “No man ever became wise by chance.” ~ Seneca ~

Be brave enough to make mistakes, and humble enough to learn from them.

“I swear by Allah, none of you truly believes until you trust Allah more than that which is in your hand.” ~ Aisha (rad Allahu aha) ~ “And put thy trust In Allah, and enough is Allah As a Disposer of affairs.” [Surah al-Ahzab 33:3]

Even fake stories can teach us valuable lessons.

If following the salaf was only outward, in their dressing, their living conditions and what they ate, then there is no one on this earth who is following their example. However, if it is their spirit, their love for Allah and His Messenger, their obedience to the best of their ability - then we all can do that.

Four decades and more  Have passed Looking back A blur  Some recognisable faces Some silly memories  Some regrets  Some longings What legacy have I left behind? What was my contribution? What will people remember me for? Nothing comes to mind  Has my life been misspend? Have I not accomplished anything worthwhile? Has my time here been for naught? I leave my life to Allah.

Promises of high returns  But not one cent has been accounted for  But he is an honest man  The promise of being looked after But no paperwork in sight But he is an honest man  Money invested based on trust  But he has not shown he’s trustworthy  But he is an honest man  Money has been invested in year-long projects  But now projects are years long But he is an honest man  He gave his word to return the money  But only on his terms  But he is an honest man  He said I didn’t need a loan deed But how will I know where my money is invested? But he is an honest man  He said he’d never run off with my money  But he knows many gangsters  But he is an honest man  He said he can’t pay now - he has no money  But he owns three Harleys and once offered over half a million dollars to buy a yacht  But he is an honest man  I, a powerless ...

Every soul has come from Allah A touch of the Divine A connection -  Pre-birth  Post-death The spirit is the 'real’ you The one that is eternal The one that makes us human The one that angels brought from Allah An unseen, unquantifiable, unmeasurable, unfathomable entity The human spirit conquers all No tragedy  No calamity No thing It is indestructible!

To those critical of those who don’t pray Take it easy - No one ever started praying  because of criticism Once I was like you To those who get red in the face When a lady doesn’t wear hijab Don’t be too quick to judge Once I was like you To those who think they are ones on the right path Allah wants us on the straight path Don’t be too quick to exclude others Once I was like you

There is no feeling greater than when someone believes in you. This is the essence of being a person, of acknowledging another’s humanity.

Humans develop longing for some places that they don’t have for others. Some even develop longing in foreign lands.

Good deeds are like arrows shot in the dark, you don't know which one will find its mark. We don't know which deeds will have an impact. We don't know which deeds will be accepted by our Rabb.
